Take a look at a Hugh!
Hugh Jackman gets bulkier for Wolverine role at Aronofsky's command
There is no doubt that Jackman is more than capable of portraying Wolverine on the silver screen, but for the fact that the X- men movies are piss poor at best, and that his physique is quiet the opposite of Wolverine. However, it seems that both of these issues are now being dealt with.
First, the immensely taleneted and proven creative genius Darren Aronofsky has been hired as the Director to the not so sequel to X-Men: (b)origins and is written by Oscar winner Christoper McQuirrie, a story based off Chris Claremont and Frank Miller’s acclaimed 1982 story arc (chronicled in “Wolverine” #1-4 and “Uncanny X-Men” #172-173).
Secondly, Hugh Jackman told Hero Complex not too long ago that Darren Aronofsky has talked to him about addressing the physical aspect of Wolverine. he said
I don’t know how much I want to give away about it, but Darren said with the last one, ‘Hey you looked great, but you’re so tall that in those long shots you looked kind of like Clint Eastwood, and that’s not Wolverine.’ He said that Wolverine, in the comics, is powerful, stocky, you know, he’s short and thick… I always think of Mike Tyson when he first came on the scene. Sometimes, he was a full foot shorter than his opponents and bent over [with this] massive build. There’s real power… That’s what I’m going for, and if I have a massive heart attack first, well, you tell everyone what I was going for.
Jackman is apparently on a 6000 calorie a day diet that was recommended to him by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
Basically it's steak or chicken, broccoli and cauliflower, and sometimes rice but only up until lunch time," he explained. "That's it eight times per day. It's like a job in itself.
Jackman and Darren Aronofsky have both previous stated that Hugh will be getting more ripped for this film then he previously was in the other 'X-Men' films to look more like the Wolverine in the comics, and judging by this picture, he's certainly accomplished that. It's been stated that the last time Jackman portrayed Wolverine that he weighed in at 190lbs.
Right now, I’m at 210,” Jackman says of his current weight, the result of an intense diet and workout regime. “It’s 6,000 calories a day. It’s rough.
