Deadline is reporting that Adult Swim has picked up animated series Black Dynamite for a spring 2012 debut.

The cult classic spoofing blaxploitation follows Black Dynamite, an ex-CIA agent kung fu master and full time ladies man take the fight to "The Man" from the blood filled streets straight to the "honky"house - he is, as one of the characters described him, a super n**ga. It was one of the funniest movies of 2010 thanks to it's authenticity and underlining respect for the genre which can be accredited to Black Dynamite himself, Michael Jai White, Byron Minns and Scott Sanders the director.

We are huge fans of the movie, and are glad that a Black Dynamite series, rumoured since the release of the featurette, has finally been picked up. It will be interesting to see how well it translates to the small screen as one of the successful components of the film was its low production values. Nonetheless, the fact that it will be on Adult Swim is a better indicator than any other that it will maintain its adult theme. Moreover, the cast (for the most part) will be retuning to provide voice over work!

Spearheaded by Carl Jones (The Boondocks), the series features the voices of Michael Jai White, Tommy Davidson, Kym Whitley and Byron Minns. Black Dynamite, animated by Titmouse, is produced by Ars Nova Entertainment. Jones, Jon Steingart and Jillian Apfelbaum executive produce. Brian Ash is co-executive producer. Scott Sanders, Michael Jai White and Byron Minns are producers.
